La Salle University to Honor Alumnus
Elmer F. (Bud) Hansen Jr. with Its Leadership Award

Bud Hansen

Elmer F. (Bud) Hansen Jr., a La Salle University 1958 alumnus and trustee, will be honored by his alma mater on February 28 at its annual Charter Dinner Celebration with its Leadership Award, given to an individual who demonstrates outstanding leadership in the corporate, civic, governmental, or religious communities that shapes the quality of life in the region.

The event will be held at the Normandy Farm Hotel and Conference Center in Blue Bell, Pa., a property developed by Hansen’s firm, Hansen Properties, Inc. Hansen is founder, president, and chief executive officer of the firm. Proceeds from the function will benefit La Salle’s scholarship fund.

After Hansen graduated from La Salle College High School (where he was later inducted to its Hall of Fame) and La Salle College (now University), he founded Hansen Properties, which has developed properties in Florida and Pennsylvania, including golf courses and office buildings, many of which include interior designs by Hansen’s wife, Eileen.

A resident of Fort Washington, Pa., Hansen also has received La Salle’s John W. Finley Award, given to an alumnus who demonstrates outstanding service to the University.

“Bud Hansen’s leadership has taken so many forms,” said Brother Michael J. McGinniss, F.S.C., President of La Salle. “His loyalty and contributions to La Salle University, La Salle High School, the Christian Brothers, to a wide range of other Catholic causes, and to his community are impressive and worthy of this special recognition.”

Hansen and his wife recently received the Barry Award, given by the American Catholic Historical Society. They have worked together tirelessly for many Catholic causes, such as serving as Co-chairs of  the Catholic Heritage Center, the Ryan Memorial Library Fund at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, and the St. Ignatius Nursing Home. They are also recipients of the CYO Hall of Fame Award.

Past recipients of the Leadership Award have included Judy Spires, President of Acme Markets; Sharmain Matlock-Turner, President of the Greater Philadelphia Area Urban Affairs Coalition; William R. Sasso, Esq., Chairman, Stradley, Ronon Stevens & Young LLP; and Daniel K. Fitzpatrick, President and CEO of Citizen’s Bank for Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
