What is this?
This is a fractal, one of math’s most beautiful equations. In theory one could zoom in to infinity at points on this picture and find the same pattern over and over again, but computers cannot zoom to infinity. A fractal is an equation or set of equations done several times at different points on a plane and color coded based on the magnitude of the number produced. Some fractals are just images which create more and more details based on how far you zoom in. The Koch snowflake is a fractal also. There are an infinite amount of fractals and each one is fascinating. To find more fractals click here, to learn more about this cutting edge science click here.

Fractal software can also
create landscape pictures. These were made using a program called Terragen. It is able
to be downloaded from http://www.planetside.co.uk/.
So check it out and have fun.
