First year students are assigned a first year adviser, usually a faculty member from the student’s major department. This adviser helps with course selection and provides support for the transition from high school to college. In addition, advisers help you clarify your goals, confirm your major, explore career options, access campus resources, and plan for your future.
Our first-year advising program will help you with the following:
Form a meaningful relationship with a knowledgeable and caring advisor.
Clarify your values and develop your goals.
Assess your academic progress and assist you in acquiring strategies you will need to achieve your academic and career goals.
Learn about campus-based support services and how to connect with those that will meet your needs.
Explore curricular and co-curricular opportunities.
Manage registration and other University processes.
