La Salle’s eighth annual Day of Giving is Tuesday, March 23.

For seven years, La Salle University has called upon its global community to make a difference for Explorers of today and tomorrow.

The eighth annual Day of Giving, on Tuesday, March 23, will be no different. This annual tradition brings together Explorers everywhere to help develop leaders and change lives, and support student scholarships and La Salle’s historic commitment to first-generation students.

“All told, Day of Giving over the last seven years has raised more than $2.2 million in support of La Salle University,” said Vice President of University Advancement Daniel P. Joyce, M.A. ’01. “This year, Explorers, we need your help. Gifts of any size will continue this important tradition, improve accessibility to a Lasallian education, and make an immediate difference in the lives of our students.”

In recognition of La Salle’s 158-year history, the University is seeking 1,580 unique individual donors in a 24-hour span on Day of Giving.

But that’s not all. Members of the La Salle community have made pledges and challenges that exceed $200,000 in the hope of inspiring other acts of philanthropy:

#ExplorersGive Challenge

University Trustee Robert W. Liptak II, ’86, will double the impact of alumni gifts from previous Day of Giving donors and new donors toward student scholarships by matching them, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000.

Fierko Challenge

Edward J. Fierko, ’63, a former member of La Salle’s Board of Trustees, challenges current and former Board members to support the La Salle Fund. Fierko will match their gifts up to $50,000.

Golden Explorer Challenge

Calling on all Explorers who graduated in or before 1971—Not only have Marilyn and Greg LeCerff, ’70, donated $40,000 to the La Salle Fund, they have agreed to match an additional $40,000 in gifts from fellow Golden Explorers to the La Salle Fund.

Alumni Association Challenge

La Salle’s Alumni Association will unlock a $15,000 gift if the La Salle Fund achieves 150 new donors on Day of Giving.

Honors Program Scholarship Initiative Challenge

Just this month, the Honors Program Scholarship Initiative hit the $1 million mark toward its goal of raising $3 million by 2023. If 75 donors contribute to the initiative on Day of Giving, the Alumni Association will make a $10,000 gift toward the effort.

Berran Athletic Challenge

Larry Berran, ’93, will match up to $50,000 in gifts from alumni and supporters of the men’s basketball ($30,000), women’s basketball ($5,000), and for Rowing equipment for men’s rowing ($5,000), and women’s rowing ($5,000) programs, as well as gifts toward the Athletic Director’s Strategic Initiative Fund ($5,000).

Track and Field Challenge

Alumni and supporters of the track and field program can make a difference. Gifts will support the program’s ability to recruit, enter elite competitions, and more. This Day of Giving campaign is inspired by the passion and philanthropy of seven alumni—Brian, ’97, Psy.D., and Megan, ’99 Gallagher, Joe DiGiacomo,’99, Theresa Trainer, ’97, Rachel Delavan, ’98, P.J. Gallagher, ’00, and Kevin Myles, ’00. This group has pledged more than $6,000 to encourage generosity among fellow alumni.
