La Salle University’s four-year Communication Sciences and Disorders program provides a rigorous academic curriculum and a variety of hands-on learning experiences to prepare students for successful careers and to pursue graduate studies in speech-language pathology or audiology. Students gain knowledge of the principles of human communication and swallowing processes. Coursework focuses on the anatomical, physiological, neurological, acoustic, psychological, developmental, linguistic, and cultural bases of speech, language, hearing, and swallowing processes and disorders.
Skilled speech-language pathologists are in high demand to work with patients with communication and swallowing disorders in a wide variety of clinical settings. La Salle’s program has a long tradition of preparing students with the knowledge and clinical skills for successful and fulfilling careers.
Our distinguished faculty have extensive clinical, research, and teaching experience to prepare students with the practical and theoretical knowledge to succeed in their chosen fields.
Upon graduation, La Salle’s CSD students are prepared to enter a master’s degree program in speech-language pathology or a clinical doctorate program in audiology. These are the entry level degrees required to join these professions. Students who do not pursue graduate studies can still enter the profession in supporting roles in a wide variety of settings, including:
