Gabriella DeMichele

Dr. DeMichele obtained her PhD. at the University of the Sciences. During that time, she taught anatomy and physiology lab and assisted in other courses such as the Microbiology of Beer and Quality Control in brewing. Her research focused on characterizing a novel yeast species and utilizing the platform to identify yeast in the lab she worked in to develop a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience lab, “Yeast Hunters.” Students’ projects included isolating a novel yeast using classical yeast identification methods and modern molecular biology methods (polymerase chain reaction and bioinformatics). Her research interests include yeast fermentation, biofilm formation, and higher education research.

Dr. DeMichele is currently an assistant professor of biology and the anatomy and physiology coordinator.
