James M. Mancinelli, Ph.D., CCC-SLP/L is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. He is a certified speech-language pathologist with licenses in PA and NJ. Dr. Mancinelli is a teacher, clinician, and researcher. At La Salle he advises graduate students pursuing a Master’s degree in speech-language pathology and teaches undergraduate courses, the graduate level clinical practicum, fluency disorders, and the medical speech pathology elective. Dr. Mancinelli’s research interests include the sociological aspects of stuttering, clinical education, clinical supervision, and neurogenic topics.
Dr. Mancinelli has over 30 years clinical experience in medical speech-language pathology across health care settings. He has worked in acute care, acute rehab, sub-acute rehab, and long-term care, as well as out-patient therapy with adults presenting with neurogenic communication, swallowing, and voice disorders. He is clinically active in the clinic at La Salle University supervising graduate students and treating people who stutter.
Dr. Mancinelli has co-authored a textbook on acquired language disorders in adults, which is presently under contract for the fourth edition. He has published in the areas of stuttering and clinical education and supervision and has also presented at the ASHA Convention on those topics. He is also a published poet. He considers it an honor to be able to work with the faculty, staff, and students, in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at La Salle University.
