During this personalized conversation with a faculty or staff member, students will confirm their major, review their fall semester schedule, learn about the advising process and the adviser’s role in college, and identify next steps for connecting with resources or making changes to their schedule. Students will be able to ask questions about their major, schedule, and courses.
All incoming first-year students will take a math placement assessment called ALEKS during Ready, Set, Explore to determine which math course each student should take. The Placement Assessment is up to 30 questions and generally takes 60-90 minutes to complete. After the Placement Assessment, an individualized Prep and Learning Module is available for students to refresh their knowledge on forgotten topics. Students then have the opportunity to reassess and improve their placement.

Your student will likely change their major during their four years here at La Salle; or they might not even know what major they want yet. Hear from the Deans of our three Schools – Arts and Sciences, Business, and Nursing and Health Sciences – as well as a representative from our Career Center, about how majors and careers don’t always have a linear path, but can align based on the skills and knowledge learned during college. You’ll also hear about some of the internship, co-op and career opportunities that will be available to your student during their time here and after La Salle.
Join academic support and success coaching staff from the Center for Academic Achievement to learn how La Salle helps students navigate the transition from high school to college. We’ll discuss student expectations compared to college realities, the services the Center provides to support students in that journey, and recommendations for conversations to have with your student before the semester starts.
