An associate degree in health studies will provide students with the foundational knowledge and skills to work in entry-level positions in healthcare fields including lab technician, medical coder, health administration, medical assistant, medical records assistant, or pharmacy technician. This can help students gain practical experience in the field and better understand their career options before committing to a full four-year degree program or while working toward a bachelor’s degree. An associate in arts degree is an excellent stepping stone into a bachelor’s degree program here at La Salle. The associate degree will provide you the opportunity to fulfill the University Core requirements. Within the Core, you can explore some of the academic disciplines, and also augment your academic experience by taking courses in other disciplines to attain the necessary total of 60 credits. This degree is an excellent foundation on which to base future academic and career decisions.
The associate’s in health studies serves as an introduction to nutrition, public health, or communication sciences and disorders, and can serve as a pathway to a health sciences degree for interested students. The associate degree is designed to provide a foundation in liberal arts through fulfilling the core curriculum, giving students a well-rounded foundation in the four core values of a Lasallian education.
