La Salle’s Core Curriculum is a set of study areas all undergraduate students take to gain a breadth of knowledge across key disciplines, to make sure you graduate well prepared for wherever life takes you and ready to engage in a lifelong, dynamic process of growth and development.
You’ll spread your Core courses throughout your time at the university, with objectives for Level 1 and Level 2 learning in each of 15 learning areas based on our institutional learning outcomes.
Many students also use the courses they choose for their Core requirements to count toward a double major or a minor in a second area of interest.
12 courses and 2 non-credit modules
To view Level 1 courses, type the academic subject and “1*” in the Course Catalog search bar. For example, searching Art 1* returns all the 100 level Art subject courses.
4 courses you’ll take as part of your academic major, fulfilling each of the 4 commitments
To view Level 2 courses, type the academic subject and “2*” in the Course Catalog search bar. For example, searching Biology 2* returns all the 200 level Biology subject courses.
You’ll work with your academic advisor to build an individual plan that’s perfect for your interests and goals. They’ll help you select courses that meet both the requirements for your major area of study and any other degrees, minors, or qualifications, and set you up for a well rounded learning experience that’ll give you the best preparation for your future career.
