Handshake is La Salle’s job and internship search platform that lists opportunities both on and off campus. Handshake makes the search a little easier by curating relevant positions based upon student preferences. Students can find Handshake in their portal under “tools”. For faculty/staff access as a student, please see below.
Job and Internship Search
There are thousands of job and internship postings in Handshake with employers in our region, across the country, and beyond. Handshake is also the home for dozens of on campus jobs, including both work-study and budget opportunities.
Scheduling Appointments
Students can schedule an appointment with the Career Center via Handshake. When they schedule, they are able to select the reason for their appointment, the counselor they meet with, and the time/day. Please note: we do not offer same day appointments, however, students may come during drop-in hours (no appointment required) Monday through Friday from 11:00 – 1:00 in the Career Center or Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 – 5:00 in the Connelly Library.
Events Calendar
The Handshake events calendar lists all upcoming on campus career center events including networking nights, information tables, job fairs, and more. We also post employer events that are hosted off campus that students may choose to attend at their own discretion.
Document upload
Students can upload their resume, cover letter, transcripts, and other documents needed to apply to a job listed in Handshake. These documents are private and cannot be seen by an employer unless they have 1) applied to a position 2) have chosen to make their profile public, in which only the resume is visible.
All resumes uploaded to Handshake must be reviewed by the Career Center. Please note: resumes may take up to 3 business days to be reviewed.
*Please follow the link to find the Resume Review Rubric used to evaluate uploaded student resumes.*
Employer Connections
Employers use Handshake to seek out current students, graduating students, and recent graduates! If a student chooses to make their profile public (in the same way a LinkedIn profile is public), employers can message students to recruit for various positions.
Peer Connections
Students can connect with one another! If a student chooses to make their profile public, they can message, and receive messages from, peers at La Salle or other universities to inquire about their career-related questions.
Please go to lasalle.joinhandshake.com to create an account. All current students already have an account in the portal under “tools” as part of their single sign-on. Students should not request an account using the link above.
With a Handshake student account, we suggest that you speak with students about the various uses of Handshake and keep up-to-date with our events calendar.
