Alumnus Bill Bradshaw, ’69, has been named La Salle’s Interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation, following the departure of Thomas Brennan, who held the position for 18 years
Bradshaw has over 36 years of experience as an intercollegiate Division I athletic director. He served as La Salle’s athletic director from 1978 to 1986 before leading DePaul University’s athletic department from 1986 to 2002. He returned to Philadelphia in 2002 to serve as Temple University’s athletic director where he remained until 2013.
While at DePaul, Bradshaw was integral to the development of the Great Midwest Conference and ranking in the nation’s top 10 for total wins for football and men’s and women’s basketball for three consecutive years at Temple University. While at Temple, he also led the turnaround in the football program and achieved the most significant improvement in the nation to date for the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate.
“We are delighted to have Bill return to La Salle. Over his career, he has shown outstanding vision and leadership, particularly in student-athlete academic performance and graduation success rate,” said President Colleen Hanycz. “His ability to select and mentor outstanding coaches, and take programs under his leadership to new heights of performance is exemplary. Bill’s steadfast and genuine concern for his athletes is well known. As we embark on a new era in La Salle athletics, we are confident his attributes and drive for excellence will serve the University well.”
