Brother Teliow was born in what is now Germany (1828) and immigrated to the U.S.
At age 23, he entered the Novitiate of the Christian Brothers in St. Louis (1851).
September 1862: He supervised the opening of Christian Brothers’ High School, which today is known as La Salle College High School.
Bishop (later Archbishop) James F. Wood of Philadelphia urged the Christian Brothers to seek a charter for the new high school and for a college. This was realized on March20, 1863 in the charter for “La Salle College in the City of Philadelphia.” Wood is thus considered as a Co-Founder of La Salle.
