John B. Mooney, Jr., ’54, served as an educator and baseball coach for 40 years at the now closed St. James High School in Chester, Pa. He recently realized a long-held wish when his daughter and scores of his former players gathered for a reunion that honored him and to reminisce.
Samuel P. Cimino, ’60, received the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Service Award from the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University.
George A. Carroll, ’61, wrote a book of poetry titled Laurel Place Memories and Other Poems in 2023 which is available on Amazon.
Joe McFadden, ’61, is an ROTC graduate and a retired Allstate Insurance executive. He and his wife, Pat, live in Libertyville, Ill., and spend summers with their children and grandchildren at their shore home in Stone Harbor, N.J. Joe enjoys writing and belongs to a writers club; He is one of eight contributors to a book, Thursdays with Jim: A Memoir Anthology. The book is a compilation of memoirs, short stories, and poems. Joe credits his La Salle education for his ability to write and for enabling him to follow his passion.

Ralph Joseph Teti, ’70, has been elected as a fellow in labor to the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. This is the highest recognition by one’s colleagues of sustained, outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying integrity, dedication, and excellence. Ralph is the only union-side lawyer from the Philadelphia region to have been elected to the college this term.
Daniel J. D’Alesio, Jr., ’70, serves as senior litigation and corporate counsel for the University of Florida J. Hillis Miller Health Center Self-Insurance Program and continues to volunteer in the Jacksonville, Fla., community as a teen court judge for the Duval County Teen Court Program.

John J. Sweeder, ’71, has edited and published a new book entitled, The La Salle Christmas Poets: An Anthology, available on Amazon. The book is comprised of 50 holiday poems written and collected over a 50-year period by former La Salle faculty and staff, including Claude F. Koch, ’40, Br. Daniel Burke, FSC, and Gerald Johnson, ’65.

Gerald Hathaway, ’76, joined Fox Rothschild in Atlantic City as a partner in the Labor and Employment Department. He has decades of experience in collective bargaining, resolving workplace disputes, and risk management. He practices before the EEOC and the NLRB and defends class actions and individual lawsuits in the federal and state courts. In his pro bono work, Gerald handles labor and employment matters for The Apollo Theater in Harlem and Black Theatre United. He also provides pro bono services for The Ali Forney Center and TakeRoot Justice. He is active with the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts’ Counsel’s Council in New York City. Gerald is a fellow of both the American Bar Association and the New York Bar Foundation. Since 2019, he has been ranked by Chambers USA for Labor and Employment in New York.
Richard B. Lowe, ’76, joined the Board of Directors of Plays and Players Theatre in Philadelphia.
Col. (Ret.) Julie Trego Manta, ’79, culminated 45 years of service in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Army Superior Civilian medal, retiring as the associate dean for academic programs at the Army War College in Carlisle, Pa. Julie served 32 years as an Army officer commanding units in Germany, South Korea, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Ft. Drum, N.Y. She also served as the adjutant general for the Army Training and Doctrine Command at Ft. Monroe, Va. At the Army War College, she performed faculty and research duties as the director of human resources and director of defense management systems prior to selection as the associate dean.
Ned O. Kraft, ’79, having retired from a career with the Smithsonian and the State Department, Ned has turned his attention back to poetry. Recent works have appeared in “Gargoyle”, “Streetlight”, and “Thieving Magpie”.

Adam Schechter, ’86, was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Trailblazer Awards, which took place at Gotham Hall in New York City on October 1. This honor truly commended a lifetime of leadership. Adam became CEO of Labcorp in 2019, and chairman of the board in 2020. Before that, he was named independent director in 2019 after serving as a company director since 2013.
John P. Gaffney, ’90, was named Hauser Insurance’s new chief operating officer. John has three decades of success in a series of high-level roles at top tier companies. Most recently, he spent almost 10 years at EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants in benefits, risk management, and operations leadership positions. As the comanaging partner and COO for Hauser, John is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of business and ensuring that the company’s operations activities align with its strategic goals.
Jonathan Rotella, ’98, had the honor of delivering the 2024 keynote speech and receiving the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Western University of Health Sciences, one of the largest medical schools in the country. This accolade acknowledges his contributions to the field of healthcare and his commitment to advancing hyperbaric medicine. It is a testament to the exceptional education and values he received at La Salle.
Stephanie Gambone, ’98, president of Junior Achievement (JA) of Southeastern PA, has been selected as one of six 2024 finalists for the esteemed Karl Flemke Pioneer Achievement Award. This highly prestigious accolade is presented to first-time JA presidents who
have demonstrated exceptional contributions and accomplishments within the organization. The award ceremony was held during the Junior Achievement USA® National Leadership Conference held in Kansas City, Mo., in July 2024.

Col. Jeffrey R. McGeary, MBA ’09, was promoted to the rank of colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. His promotion ceremony was held at the Valley Forge Military Academy & College, where he was commissioned a second lieutenant. Jeffrey received his B.A. from West Chester University and an MBA from La Salle University. During his years of service, he deployed to Germany, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. Jeffrey is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and his past awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, NATO Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
