Expy’s

The La Salle University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee held their second annual EXPY’s Awards Ceremony in April 2024. The event recapped the year in athletics, highlighting team and individual accomplishments. Tatum Johnson, ‘24, from field hockey and David Butts, ‘24, MBA ‘25, from men’s track and field/cross country earned Female and Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, respectively.

Community Cleanup

In early May 2024, the Athletic Department teamed up with University leadership to clean up the neighborhood surrounding campus. Team members took time to pick up trash and clear out overgrown sidewalks near Wister Woods Park.

#SameHere

As part of an ongoing initiative to ensure the prioritization of coaches, staff, and student-athletes’ mental health, La Salle partnered with #SameHere, an organization that centers their work on mental health through education and culture development. On March 21, 2024, #SameHere came to campus to speak with the department and described a five pillar road map that assists in normalizing the mental health conversation through lived experiences and provides the tools to assess and track mental health in a non-diagnostic way.

Track & Field

Four members of the outdoor track & field team advanced to NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Regionals in May 2024. Christine Mancini, ‘23, MSN ‘24, (right) capped her stellar career by taking second in her preliminary round heat to advance to the quarterfinal round. Her time of 2:02.89 set a new La Salle women’s outdoor track & field program record. Liam Rivard, ‘23, M.S. ‘24, Taonga Mbambo, ‘23, MBA ‘24, and Gwenno Goode, ‘27, also competed and advanced.
