David Cichowicz received his B.S. in Chemistry from Saint Joseph’s University and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Johns Hopkins University. He began teaching at La Salle University in 1984 and served as Department Chair from 1999 through 2007. In 1996 Dr. Cichowicz developed and taught a non-science majors course in Forensic Chemistry and was later instrumental in creating a Forensic Studies Minor, which he now coordinates. Currently he is developing a course on the Chemistry of Beer, Wine, and Alcoholic Beverages.
Professionally, Dr. Cichowicz is very active in the Philadelphia Section of the American Chemical Society having served as a member of the Board of Directors, Treasurer, and Section Chair. He is presently once again serving as Section Treasurer. For about nine years Dr. Cichowicz worked as a Visiting Summer Researcher at the Eastern Regional Research Center of the U. S. Department of Agriculture studying the utilization of fats and oils. He has over 40 presentations and publications.
