Much of my research involved studying the mechanisms of cell death associated with Parkinson’s disease. My studies included investigated the how a specific neurotoxin induced the death of the dopamine producing neurons similar to what is observed in Parkinson’s patients. This model was also used in testing possible pharmacological agents which may reduce the cell death induced by the neurotoxin. Presently I am teaching several different courses in biology department including Anatomy and Physiology lecture and lab, clinical microbiology lab, phage hunting and Small World program to discover novel antibiotics.
