A medical device sales career involves selling various types of medical equipment and devices to healthcare providers, hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities and educating providers on the use and latest information regarding products. The curriculum for this concentration will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this competitive industry. Students with a background in business, sales, healthcare, nursing, and/or science are excellent candidates for this field.
Students take three required courses leading to an internship: BIO 164, BUS 204, and either BUS 100 or ISBT 330.
This course provides an introduction to the anatomy and physiology of the bodily systems commonly associated with the use of medical devices.
Students who have completed BIO 161 and 162: Anatomy and Physiology are waived from this course.
This course provides an overview of marketing concepts and principles applicable to business and other organizations which include factors influencing the marketing environment and buyer behavior; market segmentation and targeting; product development, pricing, promotion and distribution to satisfy the needs of selected target markets.
This course addresses business processes at an introductory level by examining key business areas through the preparation of a business plan.
This course prepares students to develop proposals on the scientific merit and commercial feasibility of life science research projects. This course is cross-listed as MGT 330 and BIO 330.
Students may register for the internship after completing the courses listed above. This experience will provide employment in a cooperating site to provide practical experience. Working under professional supervision, students will learn how to apply their education to everyday demands of the world of work.
