Ed graduated La Salle in 1963 with a degree in accounting and spent two years as an Artillery officer in the U S Army. Ed started his career with General Electric in Finance and held positions as a Corporate Auditor, Director of Internal Audit, Director Business Planning and Analysis and Division Controller.
In 1976 Ed transitioned his career into Executive positions in Strategic Planning, Business Development and as Director of Marketing and Sales for a major GE Business. In 1980 Ed was appointed Division General Manager of GE’s Power System Management Businesses and held that position for 8 years.
In 1988, Ed left GE and relocated to Minneapolis to be CEO of Ecowater Systems, a global water treatment company serving residential, commercial, institutional and industrial markets. In 1994 Ed was appointed Executive Vice President and CEO of the Marmon Water Group, a holding company comprised of 15 water and waste treatment companies serving global markets.
In 1998 Ed temporarily retired. Later that year, he was recruited to be President and Chief Operating Officer of Osmonics (NYSE) a global leader in high purity water treatment. In 2003 Ed successfully led the effort to sell the company to General Electric and was retained by GE as an Executive Consultant for a three year period providing guidance to GE as it expanded it’s presence in the global water and waste treatment industry.
Between 2003 and 2019 Ed was President of EJF Associates, providing consulting services to private equity, venture capital and companies in the water treatment industry.
Ed served on the Board of Directors of Stratasys LTD (NASDAQ) a 3D printing company from 2002 to 2019, and as a Trustee and Vice Chair of La Salle University Board from 2007 to 2019. In 2010 Ed joined the Board of Seldon Technologies a nano technology start up company using carbon nanotubes to treat water and waste streams after spending 4 years as consultant to the company assisting in finding investors and strategic partners. He resigned his Board seat in 2013 when new investors gained majority ownership
Ed was the former President (1995) and sat on the Board of Directors of the International Water Quality Association (1988 to 1998). For this service Ed received both a Lifetime Membership Award and an Award of Merit from the Association. Between 1995 and 2007 Ed was Vice President and Treasurer of the Water Quality Research Foundation and served on it’s Board.
Ed was honored in 2006 with La Salle University’s Michael A. DeAngelis Award and the University Leadership Award in 2016 recognizing his philanthropy to La Salle U. In 2010 he was recognized by Beta Gamma Sigma for his professional achievements over his long business career. Most recently Ed was recognised by the AlumniAssociation with the John J. Finley Award. He remains an active supporter of the Business School and joined the Advisory Board in 2019.
Ed and his wife of 58 years have two children, Donna and Jason. Ed enjoys golfing, occasional guest lecturing at the Business School and home improvement projects.
