We have a number of active advocacy groups on campus, engaged in education, consciousness-raising, and activism. Below are a few examples. If there are particular topics of advocacy you would like to engage in, please reach out to our office and we can explore new opportunities together. These groups and others can be found on Presence.
AIDS Outreach
About: AIDS Outreach visits Siloam Wellness and works with individuals living with HIV and their families; engages in therapeutic social activities; and sponsors on-campus educational programs, often but not limited to World AIDS Day.
Mission Statement: The mission of AIDS Outreach is to serve the community by working through UMSS and in conjunction with Siloam. Through AIDS Outreach, La Salle students can gain a better understanding of the effects of HIV/AIDS by forming relationships with individuals with HIV/AIDs, family, caregivers and advocates. AIDS Outreach works to promote a better understanding and to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS within our campus community.
About: Pheed Philadelphia is a soup kitchen program that serves food to people at the Face-to-Face program at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, and Blessed Sarnelli Community.
Mission Statement: La Salle students will work towards fighting hunger in the Philadelphia area through active involvement in local soup kitchens, dining halls, and on-campus awareness programs, advocating for the elimination of hunger and poverty.
About: Special Olympics is a program which assists developmentally delayed individuals with group recreational activities and competitions.
